A mother’s instincts should always be trusted, because it just saved a life. Baby Abdul’s mother had always noticed that her infant had shortness of breath. He also began having recurring episodes of vomiting. Not wanting to take a risk, they took their son to the hospital; and surely enough, Abdul was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a Congenital Heart Defect.

With CHD being the most common birth defect in the world, Abdul was not alone in his fight. But in India, over 1,75,000 children die annually due to the lack of access to timely medical treatment. Fortunately, Abdul’s parents rushed him to Madras Medical Mission Hospital, Chennai, where the medical staff reached out to Noel Foundation for support. With the help of our generous donors, we were able to facilitate his surgery (Cardiac Catheterization with Transcatheter RVOT Restenting).

A child born with CHD can either die during infancy, or live a long, healthy life – depending on the availability of timely and appropriate medical treatment. But when a parent cannot afford to pay for the child’s treatment, we can come together to uplift one another. Not every hero wears a cape; because when you give to those in need, you become their hero.

We at Noel Foundation would like to thank each supporter from the bottom of our hearts, for coming forward to save the life of baby Abdul, who can grow up to live an extraordinary life because of what you have done for him.
